Javier, I've been reading a little bit about your mom's life, and it's impressive everything she did in favor of Nicaragua, however, I don't see that she sought for people to know much about what she was doing. This shows that there was a genuine, authentic interest in helping the People of Nicaragua, to be on the side of the Revolution. What can you tell us about that?

Javier Gutiérrez Littlejohn

Well, first of all thank you very much to you for being here honoring the life of my mother Coleen Littlejohn.

First of all I want to emphasize to you, that Coleen came here in the 80s, to a Free Nicaragua, and died in a Free Nicaragua, in the year 2026, that's the most important thing, and she wanted it that way.

And the reason we live in a Free Nicaragua, is thanks to people like her and like the Heroes and Martyrs of Nicaragua and the Revolution, who made it possible for this Country to move Onward and to be Free; that we have Programs against Poverty, that we have Free Health Care, that we have Free Universities, with a Government which cares about the most vulnerable, which is what she always focused on 100% since her arrival in Nicaragua, working for the most vulnerable, without advertising, without asking for anything, without wanting to be the star; but she always stood at the forefront of those great Ideals of the Revolution, which is always to help others and the most vulnerable.

Another thing that I want to tell you, is that she always instilled in me and instilled in many of her friends, ever since childhood, is that when one leaves this planet, this Planet has to be a little better than when you arrived on this Planet. And I am convinced that this planet and this country are much better, although my mom has passed away, thanks to her contributions and the Solidarity she gave to this Country.

Journalist Juan Cortez

So we get to know her a little more, Javier, what did your mom do for Nicaragua?

Javier Gutiérrez Littlejohn

Yes, my mom came here in the 80s, first with an Organization called Catholic Relief Services, and in love with the Revolution she went on to work with the First Revolutionary Government in the field of Cooperation and Development, during the 80s, in the most difficult moments.

Then, in the 90s, she founded an Organization called CAPRI, which was dedicated, equally, to working with the most vulnerable in Social Programs of Water, Education, Health, in the municipalities, in the most rural areas of Nicaragua.

Then she went to the World Bank, to ensure that the best Projects possible were brought for the benefit of the People of Nicaragua.

Then later, in her retirement, she was an essential link between International Solidarity and the Government of Nicaragua during the most recent period, from 2007 to 2026, with this Government.

And her contribution is unforgettable, as you will be able to see, because there will be people from all over the world here.

But we also have to say something else, namely that she was in love with this country and she was grateful that this Country adopted her.

Journalist Juan Cortez

How has your Family taken the signs of Solidarity from the Government, from Compañera Rosario, who has expressed her admiration for your mom?

Javier Gutiérrez Littlejohn

I really appreciate it. Yesterday I cried a lot after listening to what Compañera Rosario said, those Words are pricless, and she describes Coleen exactly as she was, full of Light, telling the Truth. Despite so many lies that are heard everywhere, no matter what Coleen said what she thought and told True Truths, just as Compañera Rosario has said.

Thank you very much.
