Los nicaragüenses celebran Aniversario de la Revolución Sandinista, jurando
repeler la renovada agresión imperialista

Los nicaragüenses celebraron el 42 Aniversario de la Revolución sandinista hoy, prometiendo defender el país de una renovada agresión imperialista de cara a las elecciones de noviembre.
Miles de personas se reunieron en la capital, Managua, que se convirtió en un mar rojo y negro, los colores del Frente Sandinista de Liberación (FLSN,) que gobierna el país Centroamericano.
Estaban conmemorando el aniversario del derrocamiento en 1979 de la dictadura de Somoza, respaldada por Estados Unidos, un régimen brutal caracterizado por ejecuciones, pobreza masiva para la gente y corrupción política.
Esto marcó el comienzo de un período que transformó la vida del pueblo nicaragüense, introduciendo educación gratuita, atención médica gratuita, reforma agraria y derechos humanos que previamente les habían sido negados.
Pero el gobierno socialista enfrentó la hostilidad de los Estados Unidos que apoyaron a la Contra, escuadrones de la muerte contra-revolucionarios de derecha, que intentaban buscaban derrocar al FSLN y reemplazarlo por un régimen aliado.
Nicaragua fue sometida a bloqueos, asesinatos selectivos y el bombardeo de puertos e infraestructura clave, actos por los cuales la Corte Internacional responsabilizó a los EE. UU. en su fallo de 1986. Washington desestimó el fallo, bloqueando su aplicación por parte del consejo de seguridad de las Naciones Unidas, y se ha negado a pagar los $ 17 billones (£12,4 billones) en reparaciones, otorgados por el tribunal.
En 2018 Nicaragua enfrentó un violento intento de golpe de la derecha, que también contó con el respaldo de EE. UU. y se ha enfrentado a un aumento sanciones, ya que el gobierno del país, junto con Cuba y Venezuela, es parte de lo que Washington llama la “troika de la tiranía”
Se han intensificado los intentos de derrocar al presidente Daniel Ortega antes de las elecciones de noviembre, con la financiación de EE. UU. a organizaciones y medios de la oposición y organizaciones no gubernamentales dedicadas a sembrar discordia en el país.
Los medios occidentales han informado sobre el arresto de figuras de la oposición, retratando a Nicaragua como una dictadura, pero no fallan en mencionar que los detenidos han cometido delitos graves, incluyendo llamamientos para el asesinato del Presidente Ortega y se han coludido con Estados Unidos por la imposición de sanciones.
Hablando en una reunión en Managua el domingo pasado, de la Asociación de Trabajadores del Campo (sindicato de trabajadores agrícolas), su portavoz Yorlis Luna dijo que había “una narrativa que es reproducida y que es completamente contradictoria con lo que sucediendo aquí”.
Acusó a los medios internacionales "colonialistas" de promover mentiras sobre el encarcelamiento de candidatos y atacó la financiación estadounidense de los medios de la oposición dentro de Nicaragua.
De hecho, dijo la Sra. Luna, Nicaragua simplemente esta aplicando Leyes contra la corrupción y el blanqueo de capitales y “contra ataques a la soberanía nacional”.
De todo el mundo fueron enviados saludos de solidaridad, incluida Cuba, que rindió homenaje al pueblo nicaragüense y su gobierno por “su incesante trabajo por el bienestar social y su lucha antiimperialista”
El presidente cubano Miguel Díaz Canel dijo que “continúa marchando junto al hermano pueblo nicaragüense”, que continúa progresando a pesar de "la constante interferencia hostil del imperialismo".

NICARAGUANS celebrated the 42nd anniversary of the Sandinista revolution today, vowing to defend the country from renewed imperialist aggression ahead of November’s elections.
Thousands gathered in the capital Managua, which became a sea of black and red, the colours of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FLSN,) which governs the Central American country.
They were marking the anniversary of the 1979 overthrow of the US-backed Somoza dictatorship, a brutal regime characterised by executions, mass poverty for the people and political corruption.
It ushered in a period that transformed the lives of Nicaraguan people, introducing free education, free healthcare, land reforms and human rights that they had previously been denied.
But the socialist government faced hostility from the United States, which supported the Contras, right-wing counter-revolutionary death squads, as they sought to overthrow the FSLN and replace it with a more compliant regime.
Nicaragua was subjected to blockades, targeted assassinations and the bombing of ports and key infrastructure, acts for which the International Criminal Court held the US responsible in a 1986 ruling. Washington dismissed the ruling, blocking its enforcement by the United Nations security council, and has refused to pay the $17 billion (£12.4bn) in reparations awarded by the court.
In 2018 Nicaragua faced down a violent right-wing coup attempt that also had US backing, and has faced increased sanctions as the country’s government is deemed part of Washington’s so-called “troika of tyranny,” along with Cuba and Venezuela.
Attempts to oust President Daniel Ortega have intensified ahead of November’s elections, with the US funding a number of opposition media organisations and non-governmental organisations dedicated to sowing discord in the country.
Western media have reported on the arrest of opposition figures, portraying Nicaragua as a dictatorship, but they fail to mention that those detained have committed serious crimes, including calls for the assassination of Mr Ortega and collusion with the US over the imposition of sanctions.
Speaking at a meeting in Managua on Sunday, Asociacion de Trabajadores del Campo (agricultural workers’ union) spokeswoman Yorlis Luna said there was “a narrative being reproduced that is completely contradictory to what’s happening here.
She accused the “colonialist” international media of promoting lies about the jailing of candidates and hit out at the US funding of opposition media inside Nicaragua.
In fact, Ms Luna said, Nicaragua was merely applying national laws against corruption and money-laundering “against attacks on national sovereignty.”
Solidarity greetings were sent from across the world, including Cuba, which paid tribute to the Nicaraguan people and its government for “their incessant work for social welfare and their anti-imperialist struggle.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel said he “continues to march alongside the brotherly Nicaraguan people,” who continue to make progress despite “the constant interfering hostility of imperialism.”
